Off-Road Sites

Just in case you haven't already realised it, us lot here at Modern-Day Explorers are principally interested in greenlaning, that is: driving the permissible byways of the South East of Blighty in a responsible and considerate manner. We never, ever stray from the correct track or cause untold damage to lanes already in a shoddy state. We believe that greenlaning is probably one of the best ways to experience the glorious British countryside, rather than being about testing the capabilities of driver and vehicle or getting stuck roof-deep in a quagmire, and such attitudes run a real risk of getting us all banned from the countryside. Just watch the documentary 'Tales from the National Parks' (link: http://bbc.in/vE16l1) to see what we're up against (as if you didn't already know!).

However, although technically beyond the scope of this website, we do obviously recognise that many of us thoroughly enjoy such activities (including us!), and as such here we shall provide a list of the pay-and-play off-road sites within the area covered by this site (Hampshire to Kent), in order that you can go and behave atrociously and get filthy in the process!

Two separate off-road centres run by the same dude, John Morgan, both lie near Chichester in West Sussex in an area that otherwise offers no real opportunity to get off the beaten track: there are very few greenlanes in this area. The Boxgrove site covers 80 acres and is open on the second Sunday of every month. The Slindon site covers 100 acres and is open on the fourth Sunday of every month.

For more details, please see their website here.

This off-road centre can be found down near Lyndhurst in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, again in an area with a dearth of greenlanes. Open on the first and third Sundays of every month.

For more details, please see their website here.

Again in West Sussex, this off-road centre can be found to the west of Cuckfield (i.e. Hayward's Heath). It covers 40 acres and is open on the fourth Sunday of every month.

For more details, please see their website here.
